Maria Shuvalova is a literary critic, PhD student, and Lecturer at the University of

Kyïv-Mohyla Academy. She was previously a Fulbright Scholar at the Harriman Institute, Columbia University. In 2022, she became Acquisition Editor at Academic Studies Press. After the invasion, she was initially displaced to Western Ukraine but returned to Kyïv in the spring. She has appeared regularly in international media, including the CBC.
