DANYLIW RESEARCH SEMINAR ON CONTEMPORARY UKRAINE

The impact of Russian occupation on Ukrainian civilians is examined through the  transformation of everyday life into an open-air prison with mass surveillance, military checkpoints, and restricted mobility; political violence, including torture, arbitrary detention, and extrajudicial killings; cultural genocide with the use of education as a tool of forced assimilation (Russification); and the moral dilemmas between “resistance” and “collaboration.”
