Citoyennes soignantes: Guerre, femmes,
et fabrique du commun en Ukraine

Based on field work conducted between 2014 and 2022, in the midst of the Donbas War in eastern Ukraine, Ioulia Shukan analyzes the trajectories and practices of seven women volunteers from the Sisters of Mercy ATO/Kharkiv volunteer association. Caring for wounded soldiers at the Kharkiv Medical-Military Hospital, these women fill the gaps in military medicine that has been neglected and underfunded for many years. Without medical training and new to community involvement, these caregivers reinvent solidarity and civic action on a daily basis. ​
