DANYLIW RESEARCH SEMINAR ON CONTEMPORARY UKRAINE

To what extent does the Ukrainian political field remain intact in times of war? Through the lens of the opposition between far-right and far-left movements, this paper aims to examine the realignment of cleavages in wartime Ukraine. Some might be inclined to link the absence of electoral competition to a shift toward authoritarianism. Others might suggest that wartime unity precludes any meaningful political debate. Yet Activism remains rooted in the traditional arenas of civilian political life, where persistent cleavages are still apparent.
