Lessons from Humanitarian Organizations
for Getting Reconstruction Right
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukrainian civil society organizations and volunteer groups have been at the forefront of the humanitarian response. However, Ukrainian CSOs are being sidelined in the planning of reconstruction. Based on data collected in the spring of 2023, this research proposes a re-conceptualization of meaningful civic participation in the context of upcoming recovery and reconstruction efforts.
