On 24 February 2022, Yevhen, together with his friends, volunteered to join the first medical battalion on the front line. They provided lifesaving support and evacuation of the injured. This film reveals the experiences of these young men over six months.
As they left for the front, they sent their families to the rear. They later gather for a baptism. As soon as they rise from the celebratory feast, they have to go back to the front.
Vitaly Mansky, born in Ukraine and based in Latvia since 2014, is a celebrated documentary filmmaker, whose films include Under the Sun (2015), Rodnye (Close Relations) (2016), and Putin’s Witnesses (2018). He founded the International Documentary Film Festival ArtDoc Fest Riga in 2020.
Yevhen Titarenko born in Odesa, has been on several missions as a combat medic since the 2014 war and the February 2022 large-scale Russian invasion. His first film Evacuation (Ukraine, 2020) followed the Hospitaliers medical battalion on the Donbas front line. Members of the battalion are featured in Eastern Front.
