Social Participation in Ukrainian Genocides:

The Holodomor and Russia’s Ongoing Genocide

By enriching the understanding of Soviet famines’ history in Ukraine, the paper examines the impact of famines on non-human living species, animals, and their habitats, and, by looking at the individual memory and trauma, the impact of famine condition on materiality. It presents a shared history of famine as a catastrophe in which human, environmental, animal, and material culture experiences are interconnected.
