Negotiating Peace:
Prospects for Ending the Russo-Ukrainian War

This presentation examines the prospects for ending the Russo-Ukrainian war through negotiation. It analyzes the strategic objectives of both parties, the role of external actors, and the conditions under which compromise may emerge. Exploring scenarios of stalemate, escalation, and settlement, it highlights the challenges of reconciling sovereignty, security guarantees, and international order. Credible security frameworks are critically important to sustain peace.

Justin Massie is Professor of Political Science at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).
