The End of the KGB in Ukraine:

From Uncertainty to the Fall (1986-1991)

The Soviet Ukrainian KGB initially disregarded the onset of Perestroika. Moscow’s insistence on democratic reform, coupled with a dearth of strategic vision and the burgeoning Ukrainian democratic movement, precipitated a crisis within the KGB, culminating in its eventual dissolution.

Andriy Kohut is Director of the Sectoral Archive of the Security Service (SBU) of Ukraine. The time of his presentation will be determined at the Seminar.
